| A few kilometres away from Mantua, there is Verona, one of the most beautiful historic and artistic Italian centres. Mantua and Verona art cities should be visited to pass a few days relaxed between the natural and artistic beauty of Italy. Mantua and Verona provinces have a great number of different kind of lodgings: farm holidays (with rooms and apartments), holiday farmhouses, country houses and cottages, to answer every guest’s requirement. Characteristic of holiday farmhouses is that all them are surrounded by vegetation and absolute quiet although a few Km far from them there is Verona city with its monuments, its great number of churches, its lively squares, its narrow alleys, and its corsos with elegant boutiques. Holiday farms and other accommodation are located in the green country of the Po valley and between the gentle morainic hills, where peace and rest are guaranteed. For those who love art and history, both Mantua and Verona are very interesting art cities. In fact, during the Roman period Verona was a very important political and commercial centre, of which today we can see magnificent traces, such as Verona’s Arena, the Roman Theatre, the gavi’s Arch in Borsari’s gate, the archaeological area of Leoni’s gate and of Scaligeri’s excavations near to Erbe Square. Verona is not only full of art, but also of cultural centres: a lot of cultural institutions, such as the public library, the capitolar library (whose scriptorium was activated during the VI century B.C.), the Philharmonic Academy (the most ancient in the world), the Arena Foundation, the Literary Society, the ancient Academy of Agricultural Science and Literature, the University and the Conservatory keep the cultural lively of the city intact. Mantua can be described as a box full of art treasures, with its important works of Mantegna, Pisanello, Giulio Romano, Leon Battista Alberti kept in the historic palaces like the Ducal Palace, Bonacolsi Palace, Palazzo del Potestà (Power’s palace), Palazzo della Ragione (Reason’s palace), Palazzo Te (Tea Palace) and, in the churches like San Lorenzo (Saint Laurence), The Cathedral and Basilica di Sant’Andrea ( Saint Andrew’s Basilica). For people who want to enjoy so much beauty and all the artistic and historic treasures, the best solution is to stay in a holiday farm or in a country house in Mantua province, so to spend a holiday completely relaxed, in a pleasant and comfortable lodging that offers you the best of farmer’s welcome.
