from 12 February 2010 to 31 December 2010 - Cycle routes

| Mantova-Peschiera cycle track |
|
The bicycle is surely the most suitable means to discover the Mantuan territory, a paradise of level and not too crowded roads running parallel to rivers and channels, high banks or slight slopes dotted with woods, vineyards and small lakes.
The several cycling routes stretching from Garda Lake to the Po River meet all the needs of cycle tourism lovers, who will have the chance to admire surprisingly varied landscapes, all different from one another. The North-South route (from North Cape to Malta) and the West-East route (from Cadiz to Athens) Eurovelo 7 and Eurovelo 8 intersect precisely in Mantova.
From Garda Lake you can reach Mantova through the wonderful Mantova-Peschiera cycle track; you immediately encounter the morainic hills, following the Mincio River and encountering Monzambano and Valeggio sul Mincio, without forgetting a romantic stop in Borghetto, with its alleys and mills.
The route goes as far as Bosco Fontana in Marmirolo, ancient game preserve of the Gonzaga family, and it ends once again in the Mincio River, which embraces the town of Mantova and forms three lakes. From here you can reach the villages of Grazie (do not miss the tour to the extraordinary sanctuary!) and Rivalta sul Mincio, where boat tours of the Mincio Valleys and Park Centre are organized.
There are no words to describe the fascination of the Oglio Sud Park, an itinerary that will take you to the old pontoon bridge in Torre d’Oglio, the natural reserves of Sant’Alberto and of the Torbiere (Bogs) of Marcaria and the Le Bine Oasis, a real heaven for the wild fauna.
Also the Big River (Po river) offers landscapes full of charm, with its banks, holms, wonderful farms and poetic villages where time seems to have stopped. Thanks to mostly asphalt roads along the course of the Po River, you can easily go along the banks, encountering villages such as Casalmaggiore, San Matteo delle Chiaviche with its large pumping and drainage plants, Suzzara, San Benedetto Po with the monastery having the same name, Ostiglia with the marshes of Busatello and the natural reserves Isola Boschina and Isola Boscone, and Borgofranco, the city of truffles, but also very small and lovely villages such as Scorzarolo, Portiolo, Libiola, Bonizzo.
Finally, a magic itinerary around the town of Mantova, whose cycle tracks allow you to go from the Lago Superiore (Upper Lake) to Borgo Angeli, through Belfiore, to the Ponte dei Mulini and then to the Lago di Mezzo (Mid Lake), running one’s eyes over the buildings that make up the Gonzaga palace, finally reaching the Lago Inferiore (Lower Lake), and arrive at Bosco Virgiliano and further to the ancient Andes, where the supreme poet Virgil was born, or to the Archaeological Park of Forcello, in Bagnolo San Vito, which holds the remains of an important Etruscan village dating back to the 6th century BC.
Choose Mantova and its territory for a relaxing bike holiday, and stay on our farms: they will offer a helpful luggage transport service among the various stages of your journey.
