The mostarda mantovana
Arrival in a holiday farm located in the area between Porto Mantovano and Bagnolo. Dinner with the surprising dishes of the Mantuan tradition and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will reach Mantua. There, we will take a guided tour of the city centre: this small but very enjoyable town, declared UNESCO heritage site together with Sabbioneta, offers several palaces, museums, churches and sites of interest to be visited.Lunch at your leisure.
Afterwards, we will visit Palazzo Te, a masterpiece by Giulio Romano, where we will admire the famous Halls of the Horses, Cupid and Psyche and the Giants.
After breakfast, we will reach a cooking workshop, where a "rasdora" (the typical Mantuan housewife) will teach us how to prepare mostarda mantovana. Based on the traditional recipe of the apothecaries who worked for the Gonzaga family, we will mix simple ingredients such as: apples, sugar and mustard.
Afterwards, we will have lunch, with the possibility to taste the farm mostardas.
Then, we will stop off at Dispensa Contadina to find local products that are the fruit of ancient knowledge and manufacturing techniques consolidated over time, a collective heritage of rural families and local communities.
