One of the few remnants of the great Po lowland forests that once covered this part of the plain
It is one of the few big forests still existing in the Padana Plain. In the past great forests spread from the hills near the lake of Garda as far as the large marshland formed by the river Mincio around Mantua. It was a Gonzagas` game preserve. Inside visitors can see a small castle that was declared a national monument in 1921.
Opening time: from March to October, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; from November to February, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Tuesday and Friday.
Admission ticket: € 2.20 on Sunday and holidays. It is free the other days of the week.

On Sunday groups are allowed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They meet and start the tour from the main entrance of Bosco Fontana.
